2012 racing
season is a bad season for Ducati. They only managed to climb the podium twice
by Valentino Rossi. While Nicky Hayden is not even on the podium throughout the
season.
When the
2013 season started preparations earlier this month in Sepang, Ducati has yet
to demonstrate improved performance. Nicky Hayden and Andrea Dovizioso could
only finish in the top nine and ten in the fastest time achieved by the rider.
Even so,
Project Director Paolo Ciabatti Ducati remains confident that the Desmosedici would
be able to compete for the top three for the 2013 season.
"My
opinion has not changed, and we believe to be realistic, we will be able to
compete for the podium before the season is over," he told MCN.
Ciabatti
added that they would be a great chance on the podium at the second half of the
season.
"We do
not hide any of the riders. We do not tell them that we have a vehicle that is
completely new. We know it is not easy."
According
to him, Ducati should further develop the chassis, engine response to the pull
of the gas, and ride comfort for better rider.
"Change
does not happen overnight but we want to see significant progress soon,"
he said.
